Breaking News: Detroit Lions Confirm The Departure Of Another Top Star After a Disappointing Draft Pick

The Lions have selected their sixth pick in the NFL Draft for 2024.

On the last day of the 2024 draft, the Detroit Lions selected a player in the sixth round.

On the last day, general manager Brad Holmes, who claimed to have woken up feeling aggressive the day before, was busy arranging three deals in the draft.

The Philadelphia Eagles sent pick No. 210 to be acquired in the draft transaction that resulted in the selection of running back/safety Sione Vaki with pick No. 132.

To strengthen its defensive line, Detroit selected defensive tackle Mekhi Wingo with pick No. 189, one pick before its most recent selection.

Detroit was able to get more depth and a prospect to help with an offensive line need.

Detroit selected Christian Mahogany, an offensive lineman for the Boston College Eagles, with its second sixth-round selection.

“Big and powerful but missing the leverage and body control needed to play a more consistent type of football,” reads a league scouting report.

Mahogany performed a midseason self-correction that resulted in better footage later in the season, but his early tape was highly problematic owing to sloppy footwork brought on by poor posture.

Although his hand usage and punch are solid, he lacks the short-area moves necessary to be a reliable pass protector against NFL sub-packages.

Mahogany is a downhill mauler who has to keep honing his technique and playing for a team that respects its big guns and lets them do what makes them effective in the run game.

Early in his career, he has a chance to be a backup with upside.
