‘A MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN’: DARREN BENT IS NOW CONVINCED THAT TOTTENHAM NEEDS A ‘TOP-LEVEL’ PLAYER.

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Darren Bent thinks his old side and James Maddison are a match made in heaven.

James Maddison joined Tottenham from Leicester City during the summer transfer window and is winning a lot of plaudits, including from Bent, who has been speaking about the attacking midfielder on talkSPORT.

What has Darren Bent said about James Maddison?

Discussing the impact Maddison has made since arriving in north London, Bent said: “When you look at the ability that he’s got and what he can do with a football and what he’s been doing since he’s been at Spurs, it almost looks like a match made in heaven.”

Tottenham have made a bright start to the season, currently finding themselves sitting second in the Premier League table, and have Maddison partly to thank.

The 26-year-old, who Brendan Rodgers recently hailed as a “top-class player”, has scored two goals and provided two assists in four appearances.

He will be looking to build on that when Ange Postecoglou’s side take on Sheffield United after the international break.

of Maddison’s profile since Christian Eriksen, an attacking midfielder who can score goals and create them.

The England international is just that and Postecoglou will be delighted to have him on board.

If Maddison can maintain his current form and Son Heung-min continues to score goals, with the South Korean scoring a hat-trick against Burnley last weekend, then Spurs could be in for a very good season.

Champions League qualification will be the aim for Postecoglou’s men and it certainly does not look impossible, especially if the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea continue to struggle. It is early days, but things are looking good for Tottenham.
