Another setback as one Spurs attacker will be under intense scrutiny.

Dejan Kulusevski, according to Paul Brown, is now under pressure to step up and perform reliably for Tottenham in order to preserve his spot in the team’s starting eleven.

Kulusevski struggled to meet the high standards he had set for himself the previous season after a strong start to his Tottenham career when he joined the club in January 2021.

The Swedish player has so far this season definitely shown hints of regaining his previous form, as he appeared extremely scary in the final third.

The 23-year-old has played more minutes in the Premier League than any other player thus far this year, and he has already scored a few important goals, notably the game-winning goal against Sheffield United last Saturday in the 100th minute.

Is it now Kulusevski vs Brennan Johnson at Spurs?

However, Brown believes that unless the former Juventus man keeps delivering consistently, he could find himself warming the bench, given the forward options that Ange Postecoglou has at his disposal.

Kulusevski had a significant impact when he first joined the team on loan, but the journalist told GiveMeSport that he hasn’t exactly found the same kind of form since.

Actually, he should fit in well with the Spurs’ current system and style of play. He’ll have room to run into, and if he can find his form again, I think he’ll be a really crucial player for Spurs.

However, there is now fierce competition for those spots, so he will face pressure to perform well in order to join and remain on that team.

We’ll have to wait and see if that brings out the best in him or not. But he undoubtedly has the capacity to play a significant role for them this season

I do not think Ange would consider resting Kulusevski at the moment, particularly given what the Swede is giving the side off the ball. I expect the Australian to continue using Brennan Johnson as an impact substitute for the next couple of games.
