Seattle Seahawks will acquire defensive lineman Jarran Reed from the Packers.
Jarran Reed, a free agent defensive lineman, is joining the Seattle Seahawks for a two-year contract after leaving the Green Bay Packers, as reported by Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
After joining the Packers in the summer on a one-year contract, Reed performed admirably in 2022 over 17 games, 14 starts, and 705 total snaps. He recorded 2.5 sacks, 14 quarterback hits, five tackles for loss, two fumble recoveries, and one forced fumble.
The agreement would go into effect on Wednesday, the first day of the new league season.
Reed is heading back home. After being selected by the Seahawks in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft, he spent five seasons on the Seattle roster.
After playing a season in Green Bay and one in Kansas City in 2021, Reed rejoined the Seahawks, who finished the regular season as the No. 7 seed in the NFC.
With Reed leaving, Devonte Wyatt, a 2022 first-round selection, will have a lot of room to grow and is predicted to be a key member of the Packers defensive line in 2023.
The second veteran from the Packers to sign somewhere else on Tuesday is Reed. He teams up with receiver Allen Lazard, who is set to get a new contract with the New York Jets.
