Jack Butland: Rangers ‘name price’ amid Birmingham City links…

Rangers have named their price for Jack Butland as Birmingham City and Wayne Rooney reportedly hover over the in-form goalkeeper.

Reputable transfer reporter Pete O’Rourke claims in Football Insider that should the Championship team make a move in January, the Ibrox team will demand at least £5 million.

The writer also believes that the Ibrox club will see an increase in the goalie’s value if Jack Butland’s play remains a warning to Birmingham City.

According to the source, no EFL club will now be able to come up with a package that would persuade Rangers to let go of the former England international.

It coincides with earlier rumors that, following the appointment of former England teammate Wayne Rooney as manager, Birmingham City is seriously interested in signing Jack Butland.

It’s important to note that following sources said the Rangers would not be selling Jack Butland this season.

Rangers need Birmingham City to cough up Jack Thought

After Jack Butland’s contract with Crystal Palace expired and his loan at Manchester United ended, Rangers signed him on a pre-contract in the summer.

With the Rangers locking down the 30-year-old stopper on a four-year contract, the move appears to be an amazing steal as the weeks have gone by, even with Jack Butland’s exorbitant salary.

Jack Butland was acting as a backup goalie down south when Rangers persuaded him to come to Ibrox to replace the famous Allan McGregor, and the allure of wearing the number one jersey at Ibrox proved too much for him to resist.

The Rangers have significantly improved a problematic position, and the highest tribute that can be given to Jack Butland is the smooth transfer from Allan McGregor.

Jack Butland appeared to be a remarkable addition, even in the early going of the season when Michael Beale’s summer additions were having trouble adjusting to life at the Rangers.

The Rangers are in a strong position with relation to the goalie, and there have been suggestions in the past—via Chris Jack and the Rangers Review—that the team does expect to pocket a substantial profit off the player at some time in his contract.

Jack Butland’s aspirations make previous connections to Birmingham City seem like a step backward, and if the stopper keeps up his current form, Rangers may have to worry about interest from teams in a higher tier than the Blues.

Since joining Rangers in the summer, Jack Butland has made 17 appearances; nevertheless, his eight clean sheets do not fully reflect his stellar debut in Glasgow.
