DONE DAL: just now, Eagles has sign another……

Eagles sign Julio Jones

Adding to an already-loaded pass-receiving corps, the Eagles have announced the signing of veteran wide receiver Julio Jones, and the team expects Jones, known to have a great work ethic to go along with his Hall of Fame talent, to get up to speed sooner rather than later.

Bradley Roby, a cornerback, was signed to the practice squad two weeks ago and played 25 quality snaps in the win over the Rams in Los Angeles.

Jones is the second veteran added recently; Roby fits into a wide receiver corps that includes A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Olamide Zaccheaus.

Entering his 13th NFL season after the Falcons made him a first-round draft pick out of Alabama in 2011, Jones has 903 receptions for 13,629 yards and 81 touchdowns. He played the first 10 years of his career in Atlanta and then spent 2021 in Tennessee and last year caught 24 passes for 299 yards and a pair of scores in 10 games with Tampa Bay.

At 6-3, 220 pounds, Jones has great size and experience in every situation and he will be able to add his big-game pedigree to the offense. It isn’t yet clear how the Eagles plan to use Jones, but the team put Quez Watkins on Injured Reserve prior to Sunday’s game at the Jets and elevated Devon Allen from the practice squad.

A seven-time Pro Bowl selection, a two-time first-team All-Pro pick, and a member of the NFL’s All-Decade Team for the 2010s, Jones has three times led the NFL in receiving yards per game, has twice paced the league in receiving yards for the season, and in 2015 his 136 receptions, 1,871 yards and 116.9 yards per game topped the NFL in all three categories.
