Ohio State gets news from receiver Emeka Egbuka on NFL plans.
The news that several Ohio State football players have chosen to return for one more season rather than sign with the NFL has created a good whirlwind around the Woody Hayes Athletic Center lately. As nice as it has been, it just became a lot more rosy with receiver Emeka Egbuka entering the fray and also declaring that he will return for one more year in the Scarlet and Gray.
The potential first-round pick appeared to be considering a return, as there had been whispers and rumors about it. He confirmed those tidings on Thursday by making an announcement, joining the long list of OSU players who had considered joining the NFL but ultimately chose to complete their business on the banks of the Olentangy.
This may be the largest announcement on players’ ability to depart early to join the NFL to date. Egbuka was predicted to have a huge season and be a first-round pick going into the season. In addition to playing in Marvin Harrison Jr.’s shadow, the Biletnikoff winner, he had to cope with an ankle ailment that undoubtedly interfered with his plans for his junior season.
Despite the injury and time missed, he ended the season with 41 receptions for 515 yards (12.6 avg.) and four touchdowns.
ALERTING: Ohio State wide receiver Emeka Egbuka will be making a senior return. It appears that Egbuka may be the number one wide receiver if and when Harrison officially announces his intention to enter the NFL. With the addition of the transfer portal, the recruiting commitments, and the decision by all of these guys to come back, this week has been amazing in Columbus.
We are still awaiting word from a few more high-profile players, and we will update you as soon as they announce their plans to play in the NFL or to run out of the tunnel in the Shoe once more.
