Jim Harbaugh Accepts Suspension, Will Not Coach vs. Ohio State Buckeyes
Michigan Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh was suspended for the final three games of the regular season last week, following the Big Ten’s independent investigation into the team’s alleged sign-stealing scandal.
As of right now, Harbaugh has chosen to accept that suspension, end the Big Ten’s investigation, and forego asking for a temporary restraining order. He will also no longer be kept off the field for the final two games of the season.
Put differently, Harbaugh will not be watching “The Game” on November 25 against the Ohio State Buckeyes from the sidelines.
According to ESPN, Harbaugh will accompany the Wolverines on their trip to Maryland on Saturday and will assist with game preparation until the team gets to SECU Stadium to play the Terrapins.
In a statement issued on Thursday regarding Harbaugh’s acceptance of the suspension, Michigan stated that they plan to keep assisting with an independent NCAA investigation.
According to the school, “coach Harbaugh, the University, and the Big Ten resolved their pending litigation this morning.”
“The University and coach Harbaugh consented to take the three-game suspension, and the Conference decided to end its investigation.
In order to put the attention back on our student-athletes and their on-field performance, Coach Harbaugh made the decision to accept this sanction with the backing of the university.
The Conference has declared that it has not come across any evidence indicating Coach Harbaugh was involved in the accusations. The University is still offering the NCAA its complete cooperation in this investigation.”
Without Harbaugh on the sidelines for their showdown with Penn State on Saturday, the Wolverines had by far their closest game of the season, winning 24-15 in Happy Valley.
