Yankuba Minteh, a winger for Newcastle United, will miss some time due to an injury.
The 19-year-old was later loaned to Feyenoord for the 2023–24 season after paying £7 million in June to move from Danish side Odense Boldklub to Tyneside.
With three goals in nine Eredivisie games and two outings in Champions League games against Celtic and Atletico Madrid, Minteh has made a good impression.
However, the Dutch champions have acknowledged that Minteh will be sidelined for a few weeks, which will impede his development.
Yankuba Minteh won’t be able to play for a few weeks, according to a club statement. The 19-year-old forward was hurt in the league last Saturday against Vitesse by a muscular issue.
Due to the injury, Meteh had to be replaced fifteen minutes early. The Gambian international, who is on loan from Newcastle United, has appeared in twelve Feyenoord games this season and netted three goals.
Minteh was scheduled to play in the Champions League tonight when Feyenoord hosts Serie A team Lazio, with Newcastle taking on Borussia Dortmund in that match.
Minteh is being closely monitored by the magpies.
When questioned about the player last month, Eddie Howe responded, “I’m really, really pleased with how well he’s started.” The assumption is that a player will learn and improve their game if they go on loan, and he is undoubtedly doing so.
He’s happy that he’s scoring goals while playing for a top team in a top league.
Minteh, meanwhile, recently stated that he is not sure if he would be included in Howe’s plans for the first squad come summertime.
Minteh stated, “I have never seen the city myself, but I was able to sign a contract with Newcastle.” The club announced right away that I would be loaned to Feyenoord.
I also signed my Newcastle deal in Rotterdam. To make sure my first few weeks in the Netherlands went smoothly, the club invited a wide range of people.
Until the end of the season, the rental is available. Some folks, I’ve heard, are hoping that I stay longer. But that is a very distant future.
It’s obvious that I enjoy being here. I sense the trainers’ and fans’ gratitude. And I think I’m growing as a person.
