Benjamin Rollheiser is emerging as a target for Newcastle United in the final weeks of the summer transfer window.

That is according The Sun’s Alan Nixon, who claims that Rollheiser is wanted by a number of English clubs.

Newcastle are named as one of the teams chasing his signature and Rollheiser is allegedly interested in a move to England.

Rollheiser has offers from Russian clubs Zenit St Petersburg and CSKA Moscow but he would even take a Championship offer in order to play in England.

The Russian offers are worth around £12million, meaning Newcastle will likely have to at least match that fee to sign Rollheiser.Newcastle considering Argentine attacker - Player would reject £12m offers to sign - Report | NUFC Blog

Newcastle have already signed one winger this summer in Harvey Barnes and still have the likes of Miguel Almiron and Anthony Gordon out wide.

Maybe Eddie Howe thinks one more winger will round off the Newcastle squad with Rollheiser now becoming a target.

Rollheiser started out in the Estudiantes ranks as a kid before moving on to Deportivo Sarmiento and then River Plate.

Rollheiser spent eight years with River and managed 34 first-team appearances, notching one goal and two assists.

River allowed Rollheiser to leave the club last summer, facilitating a move back to former club Estudiantes.

Rollheiser has now really kicked on with Estudiantes, hitting 12 goals and five assists in 63 games.

A diminutive left-footer, Rollheiser can play on either flank or even up front – and one lofty comparison has emerged.

Estudiantes boss Eduardo Dominguez told Ole just last week that he sees aspects of Lionel Messi in Rollheiser.

Whilst Dominguez accepted that Rollheiser obviously isn’t at Messi’s level, he feels that players like Rollheiser are ‘very difficult to find’.

That’s huge praise for the 23-year-old and Newcastle may not look to bring the Argentinian to the Premier League.
