AFTER EVERTON SOLD HIM FOR £1.7M, EIGHT-ASSIST START IS SET FOR…

Everton may now see Niels Nkounkou make a Bundesliga move just weeks after completing a permanent exit from Goodison Park. Niels Nkounkou only left Everton a few weeks ago but Saint-Etienne may already sell him on for a profit.

The Toffees snapped up Nkounkou from Marseille back in 2020 having spotted his potential over in France.

There was real excitement around Nkounkou’s potential but he only managed seven first-team appearances for Everton.

Loans to Standard Liege and Cardiff City didn’t take Nkounkou any closer to first-team action at Everton and he spent the second half of last season with Saint-Etienne.

Nkounkou thrived back in France, racking up a ridiculous six goals and eight assists in just 20 Ligue 2 appearances for Saint-Etienne.

The 22-year-old was deployed as a left wing back and Saint-Etienne now turned the move permanent for just €2million (£1.7million) thanks to an option in the loan.

Just weeks on from that activating that deal, it looks like Saint-Etienne are ready to sell Nkounkou…

Fussball Transfers report that Eintracht Frankfurt have now agreed a deal to sign Nkounkou for around €8.5million (£7.35million).

Nkounkou impressed so much with Saint-Etienne that Frankfurt are now willing to pay up to bring him to Germany.

L’Equipe reported just days ago that Everton do hold a 30% sell-on clause with Nkounkou.

If that’s based on the whole fee than Everton will receive an extra £2.2million, but if it’s on the profit of the deal it’s closer to £1.7million.

That’s a nice boost either way but it’s also becoming clear that Everton sold a little too cheaply with Nkounkou. The talent was clearly there with Nkounkou but he just hadn’t quite shown it in an Everton shirt.

This may end up being a similar story as Antonee Robinson, with Everton selling a left back on the cheap before they go on to shine.

Everton’s own left back situation is hardly idea, so it would certainly sting if Nkounkou goes on to shine in the Bundesliga.
