Numerous allegations of physical abuse against Antony’s former girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin have been made (John Walton/PA).
After returning to England by flight, Antony will meet with Greater Manchester Police to discuss the claims of abuse brought against him.
The Manchester United attacker was accused of repeatedly attacking Gabriela Cavallin, a former lover, and was consequently suspended by his club for a length of time before returning to Brazil.
Although Antony took a trip on Tuesday from Sao Paulo and returned to Manchester, he won’t be selected until further notice. The Premier League matchup between United and Crystal Palace is on Saturday at home.
A 42-page legal document that details two alleged assaults by Antony on Cavallin, who had a two-year relationship with the Brazil international, has been provided to GMP. He is being accused of “physical and psychological violence” against her, according to allegations she has made to UK police.
The assaults allegedly occurred in a hotel in Manchester in January of last year. Cavallin claims Antony, who vehemently rejects the accusations, headbutted and punched her when she was pregnant.

Additionally, Cavallin claims that Antony hurled a glass at her four months later, allegedly cutting her finger so severely that the bone was exposed.
After being chosen for the national squad, Antony returned to Brazil at the beginning of September but was later released after the allegations were made public. Since then, he has continued to live and work in Brazil while attempting to clear his name.
The 23-year-old claimed to have proof of his innocence in an interview with the Brazilian television program Fofocalizando. He has now consented to speak with Manchester police officers for interrogation.
In June, Antony agreed to a voluntary police interview in Brazil; he has not since been detained or charged.
The forward, who spent £86 million to join United from Ajax a year ago and is manager Erik ten Hag’s most expensive acquisition, checked with Sao Paulo authorities to make sure he was permitted to depart Brazil before flying back to England.
Two additional women have come forward since Cavallin made her allegations, alleging that Antony was abusive against them. He has refuted these charges.
