Because of their explosive start to the season, bookmakers have drastically lowered the odds that Ipswich Town will earn a second straight promotion.
The Blues are second in the early Championship table, behind only Leicester City, having won nine of their first eleven games back in the second division.
They are currently 11 points ahead of seventh-place Norwich City and have an eight-point lead over third-place Preston North End, whom they defeated 4-2 in their most recent game prior to the international break.
Sky Bet has shortened the odds on the Blues getting promoted to the Premier League this season due to their explosive start.
Ivor Davies, a trader for Sky Bet EFL, stated: “Kieran McKenna’s Ipswich team continued their fantastic start to the season by being undefeated in September, winning four and drawing the other.
Before a ball was kicked, The Tractor Boys were 5/1 to be promoted, and they are currently 8/13 to make it back-to-back promotions and play in the top division the following season.
“McKenna is without a doubt one of the best young British managers in the game; they are deserving of their current position; only Leeds and Leicester are rated higher.”
With odds of 3/1, Town is now the second-most likely team to win the Championship, barely ahead of Leicester (4/6).
