The newspaper stated on page 77 of its print edition on Friday, September 22, that the Toffees manager’s contract contains a provision that allows him to be paid through the end of the current campaign.
It further stated that the Englishman is admired by the 777 Partners, the potential new owners, and that no one at Goodison Park now has the power to fire him while the takeover is ongoing.
Tough
This is a really difficult choice to make because, despite the performances not being too poor, the outcomes haven’t been quite good enough this season.
Dyche will bet on himself to repeat that feat this season after saving the club from what appeared to be inevitable relegation last season.
Is that sufficient for a team the size of the Blues, though? It certainly isn’t, and things on the field must immediately improve if he wants to avoid difficulties.
After what he accomplished in the second half of last season, it is likely that he will receive at least a couple more opportunities to attempt and turn things around.
However, it is unclear who would make that choice given that 777 Partners now lack the necessary power and Farhad Moshiri is unlikely to want to act hastily and create more ambiguity. Only time will tell.
