TERRIFIC NEWS: A KEY PLAYER from Everton was suspended by the manager.

Jürgen Klopp confirmed on October 20 that Thiago is still not available for selection. Thiago has been sidelined since needing surgery on a hip issue, which prevented him from playing in the final weeks of the 2022–2023 season.

Stefan Bajcetic

Bajcetic is recovering from a calf issue after he made a return from a previous long-term injury, and is also still out, Klopp reported on October 20.

Conor Bradley

The full-back is making progress with his recovery from injury.

October 6: Klopp said, “Conor is running and on his way back, but with these kinds of injuries and in that age group, you tend to give them rather three weeks more than not enough because it has to do with the body’s growing process and stuff like that.” Let me put it this way: I was unable to sustain this injury any more! And that’s why he needs a bit of time.”

Luke Chambers

Chambers has resumed training after being hurt.

Klopp on October 20: “Luke Chambers trains today first time again after a little ligament issue.”

Ben Doak

The 17-year-old picked up a muscle problem when representing Scotland U21s during the October international break.

Klopp on October 20: “Ben Doak from Scotland has a little muscle thing, so we have to see but is not available for the weekend.”

Cody Gakpo

Gakpo returned to training in the build-up to the Merseyside derby with Everton following the injury he sustained in the fixture away at Tottenham Hotspur.

Klopp on October 20: “Cody trained once with the team, so we have to see how that goes for tomorrow.”

Andy Robertson

The left-back is set to undergo surgery on the shoulder he injured while playing for Scotland in October and is facing a lengthy spell out.

On October 20, Klopp said, “I believe that surgery is the course of action we take. There was a little chance that he could try without. However, after speaking with almost every expert, surgery appears to be the best option—especially in the long run. And that means he is out for a while.

“Shoulder surgery is not an easy procedure; the exact length of time is unknown. My experience tells me that you can get back into training fairly quickly, but it will not be football-specific because you still need to be cautious and overcome obstacles of all kinds. So, yeah, [he] will be out for a while.”

Suspensions

Curtis Jones

The midfielder has served one game of his three-match Premier League ban following a red card at Tottenham. He will miss the fixtures with Everton and Nottingham Forest in October.

Diogo Jota

Jota has served his one-match suspension following his two yellow cards and sending-off versus Tottenham, making him available for the encounter with Everton.
