To start climbing the ladder and out of the relegation zone, Jack Harrison believes Everton must change their mentality.

Harrison made his complete Premier League debut for Everton last weekend against Bournemouth. The winger’s hip ailment, which he sustained when he joined the team, has kept him out of action for the bulk of the current campaign.

The 26-year-old scored in his debut start at Goodison Park after joining the Blues on loan from Leeds United in August, helping his team earn their first three points at home this year. Harrison extended his team’s advantage eight minutes before halftime after James Garner had given them the lead in the eighth minute with a calm left-foot volley that went back over Neto’s head, hit the underside of the bar, and then found the back of the net.

Midway through the second half, after Harrison had a header stopped on the line by Milos Kerkez, Abdoulaye Doucoure added the last goal by smashing the ball home from close range. And the former Manchester City player thinks his team may benefit greatly from a mental shift.

He added in a statement to evertontv: “I like to bring a lot of optimism and enthusiasm to the squad.

“My mother has always taught me this since I was a little child, so I always strive to remember that. The least you can do as a football player is that.

“I don’t like to be satisfied with just enough. You need to develop a winning attitude, and if I can contribute this to the team and assist a few others in pushing one another to the limit and to the next level, then that’s ultimately what it’s all about.

There is a tremendous amount of skill present, and I believe that if everyone could only sometimes raise their game, we might become even better.

It was good to be back outside, and I intend to increase my fitness a little more. Everyone had a great day, and I’m optimistic about the future.
