On April 27, the Spanish news source stated on their website that Deco, Barcelona’s director of football, is thinking about adding a more physically aggressive player, and Onana is one of the players he has in mind.
Less expensive choices have also been mentioned, though, following earlier rumors that the Toffees might settle for about £50 million this summer for the Belgian.
Will Amadou Onana leave Everton?
Joan Laporta recently verified Barcelona’s interest in the Belgian, stating that the player is a “very good” player that the team would like to sign, even though he, like the article, stated they had multiple choices on their radar.
But Chelsea and Arsenal are keeping an eye on a possible transfer deal for the midfielder after the Premier League season ends, so Barcelona is not the only team showing interest in him.
Given the club’s current financial predicament, it is quite possible that Everton may have to sell a few of its key players in the summer. With his reputation and price tag, Onana might be among those players.
Now that their place in the Premier League is assured, all eyes may turn to the summer transfer market. At this point, it seems likely that some players will leave, freeing up funds that may be used to bolster the team.
