A secret clause in Youssef Chermiti’s Everton contract is revealed
Sporting Lisbon inserted a sell-on clause into Youssef Chermiti’s deal to join Everton.
According to Record, the Portuguese club could earn 12.5% of the striker’s future sale.
After weeks of links, Youssef Chermiti finally joined Everton from Sporting in August on a four-year deal.
The 19-year-old made 22 appearances for Sporting, scoring three goals and providing two assists in the process.
Chermiti made his senior debut for the Toffees in the team’s Carabao Cup victory over Doncaster Rovers not long after he arrived, but in five quick cameos, he has only played 30 minutes of Premier League football.
Even though Chermiti is probably considered a player for the future, Everton spent a lot of money on him, according to Record. The report states that they made €16.2 million (£14.2 million) in total, including €1.2 million in commissions and €2.5 million in bonuses.
As well as that, Sporting will get 12.5% of any future sale. This means that if Everton sold him for £20m, then the Portuguese outfit would earn £2.5m from his exit.
