Breaking News: NFL Star Player Is Retiring to Accept Packers Coaching Job Due To…..

Sean Mannion Retiring From NFL to Accept Packers Coaching Job, per Report

Reportedly, Sean Mannion is leaving the NFL to take a coaching position with the Packers.

According to a report from ESPN’s Brady Henderson, veteran quarterback Sean Mannion, who was a member of the Seattle Seahawks

practice squad last season, is retiring from the NFL and joining the coaching staff of the Green Bay Packers.

Coach Matt LaFleur in Green Bay expects Mannion to work with quarterbacks and the passing game. Henderson said in his report that people close to Mannion had lauded his intelligence and grasp of the game, suggesting that he was destined to be a coach.

Those who worked with veteran quarterback Sean Mannion always thought of him as a potential coach.

Mannion played in 14 games during his nine-year NFL career, including three starts, with the St. Louis and Los Angeles Rams, the Minnesota Vikings, and the Seahawks. With three interceptions against 573 yards and one score, he completed 60.9% of his attempts.

After a strong four years at Oregon State, where he started all four years and passed for 13,600 yards and 83 touchdowns to 54 interceptions, Mannion spent his career as a practice squad member and backup quarterback.

Now, the 31-year-old Mannion’s job is to help Packers quarterback Jordan Love, who looked very promising in his debut season as the starting quarterback in Green Bay, continue to grow. With 32 touchdowns and 11 interceptions on 4,159 yards of completion rate, Love finished 64.2% of his passes, propelling the Packers into the NFC divisional playoff round.

GM of the Green Bay Packers Issues a Statement About the Blockbuster Trade (Report)

The Green Bay Packers of 2024 will be remembered as something exceptional. Many predicted the Packers would be in a rebuilding year, but they wound up being one of the four NFC teams left. They also missed out on winning the conference championship by three points.

Jordan Love’s young offensive team, the Packers, has shown that they can score against any defense. But general manager Brian Gutekunst disclosed that the team might soon acquire an experienced veteran.

Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst alluded to the prospect of a trade on Thursday at a press conference:

“It may involve moving, dealing, or staying put and selecting players—who knows, maybe exchanging those picks for experienced players.”

Although the Packers still owe money to Bakhtiari ($40.018 million salary hit) and Jones ($17.028 million cap hit), it’s true that they won’t have much cap space in 2024. However, they will have an abundance of draft picks. Two selections in Rounds 2 and 3 of the 2024 NFL Draft give the Packers front office ample opportunity to be active this summer. They will have five picks in the first three rounds of the draft.

Usually, teams whose objective is to draft and develop players employ these picks solely in the draft. Nonetheless, Gutekunst’s remarks made the prospect of a blockbuster trade widely apparent.

Coming into the 2024 off-season, the Packers are most in need of offensive tackle, running back, interior offensive lineman, cornerback, and safety.

While it is unlikely that the Packers will pay a premium for any of those positions in free agency, it is possible that they will exchange mid-round picks for a reliable starter. To play devil’s advocate, though, the Packers would send a message to the league if they were able to “break the bank” for a top player.

The Packers actually shown interest in trading for star running back Jonathan Taylor during the previous campaign. Additionally, it was generally rumored that they would provide him the contract he was requesting.

The Packers might try to trade for a long-term player in 2024 if they want someone who can both help the team now and in the future when they need it.
