Wolves closing in on £8.5 million defender, personal terms agreed
Wolves are reportedly set to complete a move for central defender Santiago Bueno. The club are now starting to make moves in the window.

Yesterday, it was widely reported that Wolves were set to sign Enso Gonzalez from Libertad.

The youngster is on his way to England and set to undergo a medical ahead of signing a six-year deal.

And now it looks like another player is coming through the door.

And it’s for a position Wolves have needed to strengthen in for a while now…

The 24-year-old plays for Spanish outfit Girona, and is a Uruguay international, getting the first of two caps for his country and March earlier this year.

Bueno came through Barcelona’s academy, but never played for the Catalans’ first-team. He has gone on to make 120 appearances for Girona.

Romano says that ‘final details’ are now being sorted.

Bueno is prepared to fly to England for a medical. Personal terms have already been agreed.

Romano reports that the final fee could be in excess of £8.5 million.

Wolves making late moves

So it looks like Bueno could be Molineux-bound, which is a real relief.

Gary O’Neil has needed another centre-back to come in more than any other position.

For a while it looked like Nico Elvedi would be that man.

It’s possible the club could still move for the Swiss international.

But it seems like the wheels are in motion over a deal for Bueno, and hopefully the club can get that over the line as soon as possible.
