After their most recent loss, captain Max Kilman urged Wolves to “rebuild and focus” during the upcoming international break.
With the break now underway, the remaining non-internationals had extra time to train with head coach Gary O’Neil.
Kilman, who is among those still at Compton, has urged the players to reflect on their loss against Palace and prepare for Liverpool’s challenge one week from Saturday.
Kilman responded, “It’s been challenging. We need more time to train because O’Neil hasn’t spent much time with the team. We are expanding despite the manager’s very late arrival, right before the season.
Even though we lost, there are a lot of positives to take away, and we must try again.
“We have time to regroup and hone in on our goals so that we are prepared for the next game.
It’s quite frustrating, he continued on the defeat to Palace. We entered the contest and got off to a great start.
“They took their chances in the second half, so it’s disappointing to lose.
“Palace are a top side, and getting here is incredibly challenging.
We played pretty well for the majority of the game, but they converted their chances while we didn’t, despite the fact that we still scored two goals.
We were in the correct spots, but now we need to take advantage of our opportunities and improve our defense when it counts.
“Unfortunately, we weren’t successful, therefore we must try again.
“It’s not enough, and we need to make sure we’re prepared to go again after the international break. We must resume our training, maintain our focus, and prepare for the upcoming match.
O’Neil, meanwhile, called Pedro Neto ‘amazing’ for his impact.
Neto has been the standout player in recent weeks and netted two assists against Palace for a Wolves club that is battling with form and scoring goals.
On Sunday, the winger switched to the left flank and was even happier.
I have always liked him, O’Neil said. Since I’ve been here, his attitude and strategy have been excellent.
“I can’t praise him enough right now; I believe he’s been fantastic.
He has acted impartially. The switch was made because I figured he’d enjoy it more down this side (the left). He had some joy.
