The Hammers are reportedly keeping an eye on the 24-year-old Celta star as they continue to look for defensive midfielders to improve David Moyes’ starting lineup.
Beltran’s acquisition won’t be simple, though, since it is known that other teams are interested in him.
One of the best holding midfielders in Spanish football, the former Rayo Vallecano player has mastered the skill of breaking up play and creating new assaults for his team.
And according to Football Insider, West Ham is thinking about spending some of the £105 million it received in exchange for Declan Rice to sign Beltran.
James Ward-Prowse and Edson Alvarez were two senior central midfielders who Moyes did sign in the summer. However, because regular starter Soucek has not yet agreed to a contract deal, a spot in the Hammers lineup might become available as early as January.
Soucek has made five appearances this season across all competitions and has contributed a goal and an assist to Moyes’ team’s successful start.
Last season, the 28-year-old made 50 appearances for the Hammers in all competitions as they won the Europa Conference League.
With two goals and six assists thus far in the season, Ward-Prowse has so far shown to be a very wise signing.
Ward-Prowse, a fellow summer arrival who can play in that position, is not a natural holding midfielder, but Moyes wants more competition for spots.
