Following his first Premier League goal for West Ham against Newcastle United on Sunday, Mohammed Kudus stated that there is still more to come from both himself and the team this year.

The Ghanaian, who was acquired from Ajax this summer, entered the game at the London Stadium with the Hammers down 2-1 after Tomas Soucek’s early goal had been overturned by Alexander Isak’s double.

Vladimir Coufal sent the ball to Kudus 20 yards from goal, and with only one minute of regulation time left, Kudus hammered a left-footed attempt low into the corner of Nick Pope’s net, erupting the 60,000 Hammers in attendance.

Kudus, who has now scored three goals in eight West Ham outings, stated that it felt “very good to score that goal, of course.” “Most significantly, we earned a point, which was a difference-maker for the squad.

“I was happy to score my first [Premier League] goal and it was important that we got a point out of it, even though we wanted the three points,” the player said.

After drawing with the Magpies on Sunday, West Ham moved up to seventh place in the Premier League and entered the October international break with a perfect record over their previous four games across all competitions.

“We strive much higher,” Kudus continued, “and we are not content [with the draw]. “We wanted three points, but we’ll be happy with this. We’ll accept the point, and after the break, we’ll concentrate on the next game.
