After an injury scare against Bristol City, West Brom manager Corberan provides an ……….

Josh Maja, a striker for the Super Eagles, was substituted off barely minutes into West Brom’s 0-0 tie with Bristol City on Saturday in the EFL Championship, according to Soccernet.ng.

The Nigerian player was inserted into the match by West Brom coach Carlos Coberan in the 66th minute in an effort to shift the match in his team’s favor since they were in dire need of a goal to take the lead.

He clashed with Kal Naismith, though, and needed assistance leaving the field in the closing seconds of the contest. Naismith’s challenge on Maja may have resulted in a penalty, which might have altered the game’s outcome, but the referee waived it off, leaving Maja hurt.

After the game, Corberan said the team will evaluate the 24-year-old’s injury, which seemed to be an ankle sprain for the former Bordeaux player.

Corberan told Birmingham Mail, “Unfortunately we need to assess him [Maja] since he got a tackle in the box.

Maja joined West Brom permanently in the summer after his contract with Ligue 2 club Bordeaux expired in June of this year. He is a teammate of fellow Nigerian Semi Ajayi.

Maja’s ability to travel with West Brom for their next game against Watford next Wednesday is highly doubtful in light of this most recent development.

In their matchup with Watford on Wednesday, West Brom will want to return to winning ways.
