The Minnesota Vikings intend to reassign a well-known player after a significant defensive player had an injury.

Anthony Barr, a seasoned linebacker, is expected to join the Vikings practice squad, according to a source cited by NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero on Monday.

Following head coach Kevin O’Connell’s statement on Monday that linebacker Jordan Hicks required surgery after getting compartment syndrome as a result of an injured shin, Barr is returning to his former team. Hicks would not participate in their Sunday night game against the Denver Broncos, according to O’Connell, who spoke with the media.

After being selected by the Vikings with the ninth overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, Barr played his first eight seasons in Minnesota. During this tenure, he was selected to four straight Pro Bowl teams between 2015 and 2018.

Barr, who was in attendance with the Eagles on Monday as well, spent the previous season playing for the Dallas Cowboys, where he made 14 appearances and 10 starts.
