Tottenham Hotspur are joining the race to sign Rennes winger Jeremy Doku amid interest from both Manchester City and West Ham United.
That is according to The Independent, who claim that the race for Doku’s signature could go until the end of the transfer window.
It’s stated that West Ham lead the race as things stand and they already submitted have an offer to Rennes.
The offer is less than £50million though, with Rennes sticking to that price tag as things stand.
The Hammers may be pushing but it’s stated that Manchester City are ‘confident’ of signing Doku in the coming weeks.
This comes after Foot Mercato reported earlier this week that Doku has already agreed personal terms to join City.
That leaves Tottenham lagging behind in the race for Doku but they are seemingly only just entering the race.
The report adds that whoever misses out on Doku is likely to turn to Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze as their next target.
Doku and Eze are very different players stylistically though and Palace are likely to stand firm on Eze’s future after securing Michael Olise.
Who is Tottenham Hotspur target Jeremy Doku?
Doku has long been tipped for stardom having emerged in the ranks at Belgian club Anderlecht.
The right-sided winger made his professional debut at just 16 and caused mayhem with his blistering pace.
Rather than make a move to a top European club, Doku chose to join Rennes in 2020, replacing Raphinha after his move to Leeds United.
Now 21, Doku is still only a youngster but has now played nearly 100 games for Rennes.
There is still work to do on Doku’s final ball and end product but the talent to carry ball and blaze past defenders is there.
Former West Ham defender Anton Ferdinand hailed Doku as ‘frightening’ on the Five YouTube channel back in April 2022.
Ferdinand will be hoping that the Hammers can pull this signing off but City and Tottenham are lurking to make moves of their own.
