The Evening Standard reports that Giovani Lo Celso may once again be unavailable for Tottenham Hotspur’s match against Sheffield United this weekend.

With three victories and a tie going into the international break, Spurs welcome the Blades to North London on Saturday afternoon in an effort to continue their unblemished start to the new Premier League season.

Under the Australian, Lo Celso has had to wait for his chances since James Maddison is ranked above him in the midfield hierarchy.

Spurs without Giovani Lo Celso due to injury

He received his first start of the season in the Carabao Cup loss at Fulham last month but was forced to leave the game at halftime due to a leg injury. He also missed the 5-2 victory at Burnley and Argentina international action.

Prior to the match against the Clarets, Postecoglou acknowledged in the pre-game press conference that he was optimistic Lo Celso will return to action soon.

According to him, Gio Lo Celso is the only person absent from the previous evening. We took him off at halftime because he has a quad strain. Nothing too serious occurs. There will soon be a pause, so maybe that won’t be too long.

The Evening Standard have predicted that the midfielder could also miss the North London derby at Arsenal and will return to fitness for the visit of Liverpool at the end of the month.

Opinion

Lo Celso looked good throughout the preseason trip, so it’s disappointing that he might be out for a few more weeks. Hopefully James Maddison can stay healthy because he provides the team with the creative spark that has been missing since Christian Eriksen left.
