Spurs and Fulham are in talks to swap Tosin Adarabioyo and Eric Dier.

Tottenham 'discussing Adarabioyo, Dier swap deal with Fulham'

Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham are reportedly in talks about a trade that would send Tosin Adarabioyo and Eric Dier in opposite directions.

Having formerly been a regular in the Lilywhites backline under Antonio Conte, Dier has lost his place in the Spurs setup following significant criticism of his performances.

Dier has yet to make a Premier League squad in the 2023-24 season, owing to Ange Postecoglou’s adjustment to a four-man defense and the addition of Micky van de Ven from Wolfsburg to partner Cristian Romero.

Davinson Sanchez and Ben Davies have surpassed the England international in the pecking order, and he will be free to leave Tottenham Hotspur Stadium when his contract expires in 2024.

Dier was reportedly eager to compete for a place in Postecoglou’s Tottenham squad, but with Euro 2024 approaching, the 29-year-old could contemplate leaving in pursuit of regular game time in the coming days.

Amid suggestions that Spurs hold an interest in Adarabioyo, Football Insider claims that the two clubs are now negotiating a transfer that could see both players move in opposite directions.

As is the case with Dier, Adarabioyo is in the final year of his contract at Craven Cottage and has also found himself on the fringes of Marco Silva‘s squad amid speculation surrounding his future.

Monaco are reportedly interested in signing the former Manchester City midfielder before the September 1 deadline, but Spurs might offer Dier and cash in return for Adarabioyo’s signature.

Fulham are said to be interested in Dier, who Spurs are willing to accept bids for in the coming days if he does not go for free at the end of the season.

However, Fulham may face stiff competition to lure the Englishman away from North London, with Scottish champions Celtic also keeping an eye on developments.

Dier graduated from the Sporting Lisbon academy before joining Tottenham in 2014, and he has 13 goals and 12 assists under his belt from 361 games for the Lilywhites in all tournaments.

Last season, the 29-year-old scored twice in 42 games, but he missed the final few weeks of the season due to a groin injury and subsequent surgery.

Meanwhile, Adarabioyo has three goals and two assists in 108 games for Fulham, who signed him from Manchester City for £1.4 million in the summer of 2020.

The 25-year-old was a key player for the Cottagers during their promotion-winning 2021-22 season, appearing in 25 Premier League games, but he made his first appearance of the 2023-24 season as a late substitute in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal.
