Napoli to resume talks with Tottenham Hotspur for Giovani Lo Celso

Tottenham Hotspur star Giovani Lo Celso is set to be back on the radar of Napoli in the ongoing transfer window, according to Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport via Tutto Napoli.

The Partenopei are interested in acquiring the services of the Argentina international this summer. To that end, the Serie A champions are looking to propose a loan deal with a right to buy the midfielder.

Napoli have already held talks with Spurs and are in advanced negotiations. However, the discussions between the Italian outfit and the North London side had subsided for some time.

At the moment, the Partenopei are bracing for the departure of Piotr Zielinski. The Poland international could be on his way out of the Serie A giants. As a result, the Naples-based club have Tottenham’s 27-year-old, as well as Celta Vigo’s Gabri Veiga, on their radar.

Spurs signed Lo Celso in the summer of 2019 from Real Betis, initially on loan. After a decent debut campaign at the North London side, the midfielder lost his place in the team.

Subsequently, the Argentine joined Villarreal on loan in January 2021 and spent 18 months at the La Liga outfit. Under Unai Emery at the Yellow Submarines, he thrived.

Lo Celso is also a key player for his national side. Lionel Scaloni has immense faith in the midfielder. However, the Argentine has been unable to showcase his talent on a consistent basis for Tottenham.

During pre-season, Ange Postecoglou has given a number of players a fresh opportunity in the team. Lo Celso seems to have taken his chances with both hands and has made a place for himself in the gaffer’s plans.
