‘LEGEND’: RICHARLISON IMPRESSED BY TOTTENHAM 24-YEAR-OLD AGAINST BRENTFORD

Richarlison called Emerson Royal a ‘legend’ on Instagram after his brilliant display during Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-2 draw against Brentford on Sunday.

The 24-year-old’s life at Tottenham started with the player struggling in both attack and defence, as well as struggling to cement a starting spot.Champions League: Richarlison openly attacks Antonio Conte after Champions League fiasco: This season has been shit | Marca

But during the past 18 months, the improvements Emerson Royal has made have been quite immense, which he displayed with his stunning long-range goal for his side’s Premier League opener on Sunday.

Even though Pedro Porro was fit to play, Ange Postecoglou decided to start with Emerson, which is perhaps a sign that he will be his starting right-back going forward.

It was also interesting that, during the game, Emerson was coming into the midfield, in what was a change in tactics by Postecoglou – Glenn Hoddle wasn’t so sure.

After the game, Emerson expressed his delight on Instagram, with his teammates reacting in the comments section. Richarlison called him a ‘legend’, whilst Cristian Romero added ‘suiiii’ and others applauded the player.

It wasn’t so long ago that he was getting stick for his performances and fans were calling for him to be replaced.

A number of right-backs were signed, as a result, including Porro joining the club in January, but they are all behind him in the pecking order now.

It’s a testament to the player, his hard work and how he has just kept plugging away to prove his critics wrong and showcase that he is worthy of playing at the top level.
