Rosario Central had been keen to keep teenager on loan
Alejo Veliz has stated that he will not be loaned back to Rosario Central after joining Tottenham.
The highly-rated young striker was spotted prepared to fly to London for a physical and a five-year contract with Spurs.
Veliz caught the eye during the recent U20 World Cup and is said to be worth up to £12 million to Spurs.
The 19-year-old, who is over six feet tall, has 11 goals in 23 league outings for Rosario this season.
In recent years, a number of Premier League clubs have delved into the South American market, with Moises Caicedo and Julian Alvarez excelling for Brighton and Manchester City, respectively.
Rosario were eager to keep the teenager on loan for the Argentine Primera Division’s second phase, which begins later this month and extends until mid-November.
“I’m just waiting to sign my contract with the Spurs, which is about to happen,” he told ESPN.
“I’ll send a formal message to the [Rosario] fans to say goodbye.”
“I spoke with Gio Lo Celso, and he assured me of his support.”
