Tennessee Vols starter sends poignant message announcing departure from UT

Jabari Small, a running back for the Tennessee Vols, formally announced his departure from Utah on Friday by sharing an emotional letter on social media.

Small, who is still eligible for the 2024 NFL Draft, declared his intention to enter the draft.

Small had previously said that she intended to withdraw from the Citrus Bowl, according to the Knoxville News Sentinel.

I want to start by giving thanks to God for putting me in this situation. All of this would not be possible without him. The chances that he has given me have been truly incredible.

To my family: I am incredibly grateful for your unwavering love and support throughout this journey. To have a village support me makes me feel incredibly fortunate. You have all supported me during every stage, and for that, I am sincerely grateful. My inspiration comes from all of you.

To my associates: We have a fraternity and friendship that will last a lifetime and never break. I’m happy I was able to go on this unique adventure with the guys in our locker room because not many people get to do so. No matter where I go, I’ll always have these memories with me.

I will always be grateful to my coaches for their support, encouragement, and faith in me. Over the course of my four years here, you have all given me countless opportunities, which is everything a player could wish for. Thank you for letting the Memphis youngster be himself and develop into the man I am today. Both on and off the field, the leadership has molded and educated me in a variety of ways. I am grateful to all of the coaches that I have worked with at Tennessee for the last four years.

I want to say how much this university has contributed to the unique college football experience I’ve had. This chapter is unique and distinct because of all of the love, support, and shouts over the previous four years. I gave my everything for Tennessee during all of the victories, defeats, injuries, high points, hardships, and challenges. I will always carry the pride and passion of the University of Tennessee with me as I embark on this new chapter in my life of pursuing my aspirations. Following extensive contemplation and prayer with my family, I will be filing to enter the 2024 NFL Draft.
