The Wrexham manager explains why Arsenal sent a player to the team on the final day of the transfer window.

Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson has confirmed that Super Eagles-eligible goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo has settled in nicely after joining The Red Dragons on deadline day.

The Hale End Academy graduate has moved on loan to Wrexham in search of regular game time, something manager Mikel Arteta cannot provide, with Aaron Ramsdale and summer signing from Brentford, David Raya ahead of him in the pecking order of goalkeepers at the Emirates Stadium.

Okonkwo played the first part of last season on loan with Crewe Alexandra before returning to Sturm Graz to assist them win the Austrian Cup.

The 22-year-old kept his seventeenth career clean sheet in Wrexham’s 1-0 win over Newcastle United in an EFL Trophy match on Tuesday night.
