The Chiefs won the game 25-22 in Las Vegas on Sunday night, marking their third Super Bowl victory in five years. With two touchdowns and 333 yards passing from star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs became the first team to win back-to-back titles since Tom Brady’s New England Patriots in 2004–05.

The game was played at the Raiders’ home stadium, so the Chiefs left their mark. Fans of the Las Vegas team will no doubt be upset to see Kansas City lift the Lombardi Trophy on their field. But Rice made sure everyone knew who was in charge.

After Mecole Hardman was chosen by Mahomes to win the game in overtime, Chiefs players and staff rushed onto the field. Rice was given a flag with the Chiefs logo on it, which he then planted into the turf of Allegiant Stadium.

This act by the receiver was a dig at the Raiders. The two teams have been rivals since they were both original members of the American Football League in 1960.

The Raiders and Chiefs have a long-standing rivalry, having faced each other 130 times. However, this was the first time one team has won at the other’s home ground, with the Chiefs even using the Raiders’ locker room for the Big Game.

Rice, who had a fantastic rookie season with the Chiefs, is no stranger to stirring up rival fans. During his college days at South Methodist University, he celebrated a dramatic win over TCU by planting an SMU flag in the middle of their stadium. This didn’t go down well with the TCU players and caused a bit of a scuffle. It seems Rice wanted to repeat this action on the biggest stage.

In his debut season with the Chiefs, Rice racked up 938 yards and seven touchdowns in the regular season. He also made six catches for 39 yards in the Super Bowl, helping the Chiefs secure a thrilling victory over the 49ers.
