Sam Morsy, the team’s captain, is nominated for the Championship Player of the Month award, however Kieran McKenna is unsuccessful in the manager category for Ipswich Town.

Sam Morsy, the captain of Ipswich Town, is one of the candidates for the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month award, but manager Kieran McKenna did not make the cut.

The Tractor Boys’ Egyptian defensive midfielder has been in excellent form, appearing in each of the team’s four league games through the first month of the season, which included three victories.

His contributions have led to his recall to the Egypt senior side after five years away, for their September fixtures against Ethiopia and Tunisia.

The 31-year-old is up against competition for the prize from Stoke winger Andre Vidigal, Hull striker Ozan Tufan, and Norwich midfielder Gabriel Sara.

Despite Town having one of the finest ever starts to a Championship campaign by a newly promoted team, Blues manager McKenna was left off of the four-person shortlist for manager of the month.

His team defeated Sunderland (2-1 away), QPR (1-0 away), and Stoke (2-0) in August before falling to Leeds, who were relegated from the Premier League this season, 4-3 at home. The managers up for consideration are David Wagner of Norwich, Enzo Maresca of Leicester City, Ryan Lowe of Preston, and John Eustace of Birmingham.

Preston, Leicester, Birmingham and Norwich were all unbeaten in August and sit first, third, fourth and fifth respectively.

The winners of the awards will be announced tomorrow morning.
