Wide receiver for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers set to retire from the NFL
DeSean Jackson, a former wide receiver with the Buccaneers, declared his retirement from the NFL on Wednesday.
After an incredible 16-year career, one of the most captivating players to ever play in the National Football League, DeSean Jackson, has announced his retirement.
The Philadelphia Eagles, who initially selected the Cal star in the second round of the draft, will officially retire on Friday as an employee of the team that drafted him. The Eagles will also honor the player as an honorary captain during Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers.
The Buccaneers’ recent losses have a key issue, according to Baker Mayfield.
Jackson recorded an incredible 641 receptions for 11,263 yards and 58 touchdowns during his storied career. He also added four punt returns for touchdowns and five kick returns for scores.
The most prolific deep threat in the passing game, Jackson is second in league history in terms of most touchdowns of 50 yards or more, surpassed only by the great Jerry Rice. D-Jax cemented his status as maybe the greatest deep ball wide receiver in history by being a Pro Bowler three times during his career and leading the league in yards per reception in 2010 (Eagles 22.5), 2014 (Redskins 20.9), 2016 (Redskins 17.9), and 2018 (Buccaneers 18.9).
Nearing the twilight of his playing career, DeSean Jackson joined Tampa Bay, where he spent just two seasons under Jameis Winston’s tutelage. Jackson had 91 receptions for 1,442 yards and seven touchdowns in his brief tenure with the Bucs.
