Tony Mowbray reveals his message for Chelsea youngster ahead of Sunderland loan switch
Mason Burstow’s note from Tony Mowbray has been made public ahead of his loan transfer.
Tony Mowbray believes that Mason Burstow’s loan move to Sunderland has given him the best chance to show that he can succeed at Chelsea.
The 20-year-old had several offers as the transfer window closed, with AC Milan reportedly being one of the clubs interested in signing the young star.
Burstow decided to temporarily relocate to the Stadium of Light, where he has a good possibility of receiving regular playing time and the opportunity to advance significantly in his career as a result of Ross Stewart’s departure.
Before the player moved, the head coach had a fruitful conversation with the teenager and his family. He is eager to work with the striker during the break in international play.
Burstow was welcomed by the Stadium of Light crowd along with fellow deadline-day recruits Adil Aouchiche and Timothée Pembélé prior to the 5-0 victory over Southampton on Saturday.
Nazariy Rusyn is scheduled to go to Wearside throughout the course of the international break after receiving his medical evaluation in Paris.
“I thanked Mason and I thanked his mother who was on the call,” Mowbray said.
“I spoke to him. I know he had some amazing offers. After our chat he wanted to come here.
“I tried to sell this football club and the biggest selling point is the supporters I would suggest. What a chance to come and play in an environment that is so Premier League-like.

“I believe he desired to do it. I’m hoping he’ll be as enthusiastic as he seems and come play.

Burstow might be in line to make his away QPR debut following the break for international play.
