Horner: Red Bull continues to support Perez after his tragedy in Mexico

After the Mexican wasted yet another podium opportunity in the Mexican Grand Prix’s early going, has the team lost faith in him and patience?

Despite Sergio Perez’s dismal performance in the Mexican Grand Prix, Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner remains confident in the driver.

Perez’s race continued until he drifted three wide alongside teammate Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc on the run down to Turn 1.

Leclerc was struck by the Mexican as he tried to go around the outside, pitching his RB19 into the air and severely damaging its sidepods on landing.

After his horrific Japanese Grand Prix, he was forced to retire for the second time this season due to damage, and going into the final three races, he led Lewis Hamilton by 20 points.

As Red Bull looks to secure a historic one-two in the Drivers’ Championship, Horner feels that Perez’s primary focus should be on these three races in Brazil, Las Vegas, and Abu Dhabi.
