James Cook Wraps Up Historic Season With Buffalo Bills
Buffalo Bills rushing back James Cook recently completed a record season in only his second year in the NFL.
The NFL divisional playoff round just ended this past weekend, and the final game of the slate did not disappoint.
The Buffalo Bills met the Kansas City Chiefs for another incredible game that came down to the wire, with Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs eventually winning after the Bills missed a game-tying field goal.
While the Bills’ season ended on a bad note, there is reason to be optimistic about one of its players’ futures.
James Cook, a former Georgia Bulldog and current Bills running back, has completed an excellent sophomore season in the NFL that will cement his legacy. In 2023, Cook rushed for 1,122 yards, averaging 4.7 yards per run, and added 445 receiving yards.
He is the first Bills player to earn 1,000 running yards since LeSean McCoy in 2017 and the first to do so in his first two years since Marshawn Lynch in 2007.
Following the 2022 season, former Buffalo running back Devin Singletary decided to go with the Houston Texans, propelling Cook to the top of the depth chart after his rookie season.
Cook’s unique skill set as a running back allows him to be very versatile in his game, and based on his results in 2023, he made the most of his first season as a starter.
The Bills have lost in the divisional round of the playoffs three years in a row, despite reaching the conference championship game in 2020.
The organization has been on the verge of making the coveted Super Bowl game, and having a running back like Cook on the roster will undoubtedly improve their chances of remaining in contention for a championship in the near future.
