Leicester City and Super Eagles star on Atletico Madrid radar for January transfer
The international player from Nigeria was once thought to be among the finest in his field.
According to Soccernet.ng, Atlético Madrid is reportedly interested in signing Nigerian international Wilfred Ndidi during the upcoming winter transfer window.
Ndidi is presently working in the Championship after being demoted with Leicester City last season.
The Super Eagles midfielder was the focus of various rumors throughout the summer transfer window, with affiliations to teams like Bayern Munich and Nottingham Forest.
Despite the speculation, no transfers occurred, and Ndidi stayed with Leicester City, where he may play a crucial part in the club’s quest for an immediate return to the Premier League.
Ndidi’s situation, however, may alter during the approaching winter transfer window as Atlético Madrid looks to add a defensive midfielder to their roster. Ndidi has surfaced as a possible target in this regard.
Les-Transferts quoted rumors from Todofichajes that said Ndidi was on Atlético Madrid’s shortlist for a January transfer.
The alternatives for the former La Liga winners’ center midfield are Rodrigo De Paul, Saul González, and Pablo Barrios.
Two of these alternatives, notably, are above 30, emphasizing the need for a younger, more vibrant presence in the park’s center.
Ndidi, who is 26 years old, is the ideal candidate since he is athletic and has potential. Given that Ndidi’s contract with Leicester City is slated to end in June 2024 and that he is valued at €20 million, purchasing him would be a wise financial decision.
Ndidi has shown his talent this season, making seven appearances for the Foxes in all competitions and producing two goals and an assist.
