Giants add another Daboll: Christian, the head coach’s son, joins the team as an offensive assistant.
In New York, it’s a Daboll family affair.
The New York Giants are a family team these days. Christian Daboll, the son of head coach Brian Daboll, joined the Giants coaching staff as an offensive assistant. A profile page on the Giants website has been uploaded, verifying Christian’s position on the squad.
Christian was a student coach at Penn State for more than three years. The Nittany Lions then promoted him to signal caller.
One of Brian Daboll’s six children will now report to him as the NFL Coach of the Year in 2022. The Giants are hope that this Daboll serves the squad just as well as the previous one did.
Although Christian’s role with the Giants won’t be particularly significant, it will be the start of what might be a lengthy NFL career, and he will receive the extra benefit of working with a family member while he gains experience in the game. This is not the first time a father-son combination has been on a coaching staff; two instances are that Bill Belichick’s son Steve is currently the outside linebackers coach for the Patriots, and 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan was a member of father Mike’s Washington staff from 2010 to 2013.
The Giants fared well in a challenging division last season, finishing 9-7-1. They qualified for the playoffs by finishing third in the NFC East. In the wild card round, they were defeated 38–7 by the Philadelphia Eagles. They obviously improved offensively, and running back Saquon Barkley became even more of a star.
In the 2023 season, Barkley and quarterback Daniel Jones are both under doubt; the squad hopes to have both players return.
