John Brebbia is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Detroit Tigers of Major League Baseball (MLB). Born on May 30, 1990, in Boston, Massachusetts, Brebbia has played for several teams, including the St. Louis Cardinals, San Francisco Giants, Chicago White Sox, and Atlanta Braves.¹

Early Life and Education

Brebbia attended Sharon High School and later transferred to Wellington High School in Florida, where he excelled in baseball, earning a 10-1 win-loss record with a 0.83 ERA and 18 strikeouts in one game. He then attended Elon University, playing college baseball for the Elon Phoenix and helping the team secure an at-large bid to the 2009 NCAA Division I baseball tournament.

Professional Career

The New York Yankees selected Brebbia in the 30th round of the 2011 MLB draft. He made his professional debut with the Staten Island Yankees and later played for several teams, including the Charleston RiverDogs, Tampa Yankees, and Sioux Falls Canaries. In 2015, he signed with the St. Louis Cardinals organization and made his MLB debut in 2017.
