Coventry City transfer news from CoventryLive as the Sky Blues close in on Mark Robins’ seventh summer signing
Milan van Ewijk, an exciting Dutch Under-21 international, is said to be on his way to Coventry City from SC Heerenveen.
The pacy wing-back, who is officially the quickest player in the Netherlands’ top tier Eredivisie, is said to be joining the Sky Blues for roughly 4 million Euros (£3.4 million) plus add-ons and a sell-on clause.
The athlete is anticipated to arrive in the United Kingdom today for a physical before signing a four-year contract.
The 22-year-old is in the same international team as former City favorite Ian Maatsen, playing on the opposite flank to the Chelsea star who had a fantastic season-long loan at the CBS Arena in the 2021/22 season.
City had two initial bids for Van Ewijk turned down but have been successful with their third attempt to get the player who has also been the subject of reported interest from Leeds United and Anderlecht.
“Milan van Ewijk is close to a transfer to Coventry City,” writes sports journalist Sander de Vries for the Dutch newspaper Leeuwarder Courant today.
“The transfer amount exceeds 4 million euros.” Bonuses and resale percentages can boost earnings even further.
“SC Heerenveen bought Van Ewijk from ADO Den Haag for around 500,000 euros two years ago and is now collecting ten times that amount.”
