Coventry: Bad luck as stare player to miss out in play against Sunderland

The latest injury news from the Coventry City end ahead of this weekend’s clash against Sunderland in the Championship.

Mark Robins may be missing summer acquisition Milan van Ewijk when Coventry City face Sunderland in the Championship this weekend.

The Sky Blues were without midfielder Kasey Palmer during the match with Swansea, with van Ewijk perhaps out with a toe injury.

“Kasey has a family thing he has to deal with, that’s why he’s not involved,” Robins explained before of the game at Coventry Building Society Arena. “Milan has a toe problem, which is why he was withdrawn.”

In response to Cov’s 1-1 tie with Swansea City last weekend, Robins stated, “You can’t hide the disappointment, but really there is a disappointment there because I know we’re better than that but not quite yet.” We have a lot of work to do, but it’s still early.

“A point away here after having the lion’s share of the game, which we haven’t seen before here, is good, but the goal we conceded is too soft for me.” We had just gotten in front, and we didn’t rearrange soon enough.

“We got a goal up, looked comfortable, and played some really good football, but we missed the final pass and cutting edge.” We need a little more, but it will come with time.

“If we defend properly, we can win the game not just 1-0, but by two or three margins.” If we don’t it’s going to cost us more goals, so we need to know the reasons why and the reasons why we didn’t go on and win the game.

“I said the explosive nature of our play was good for spells, and we had a 20-minute spell where we pinned them in and had chance after chance and corner after corner, but we have to make one of them tell, which means they have to come out, but they were able to drop behind the ball.”

“That’s just how it was today, and we need to get back to work on that before next week.”

Sunderland play Coventry City in their fourth Championship game of the season, with Mowbray’s side having won one of their past three league games.
