Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr took an indefinite leave of absence as he continues to recover from offseason back surgeries, the team announced on Oct. 1.
Kerr ceded his duties to assistant Luke Walton, who has started the season as the Warriors coach. However, he’s set to make his return.

The Warriors announced Kerr will return to the sideline for Friday’s game against Indiana, per Rusty Simmons of the San Francisco Chronicle.
Curry Comments on Kerr’s Timeline for Return

When asked about Kerr’s return, Stephen Curry told reporters, “I would guess it’s coming soon,” although he said it wouldn’t happen Saturday, per Carl Steward of the Bay Area News Group.
Kerr Comments on Potential Return

Kerr confirmed there remains no timetable for his return, per Tim Kawakami of the Mercury News. “I don’t know exactly when, but I think I will be back coaching again this season,” said Kerr, per Kawakami.
Kerr confirmed he is still enduring symptoms following two back surgeries and is not sure when he’ll return, per Diamond Leung on Dec. 1. “I’ve made some improvement, but unfortunately, there’s no timetable,” Kerr said. “Physically, my back is better. My body is stronger, but I’m still getting headaches.”
