Veteran linebacker for Ohio State says he will be back in 2024.
Columbus, Ohio — Cody Simon, a linebacker for Ohio State, informed reporters on Tuesday that he will be back in 2024.
The four-year linebacker saw action against opponents that relied heavily on runs when the Buckeyes deployed three linebackers this season, totaling 45 tackles. He was usually trailing Tommy Eichenberg and Steele Chambers.
“I spent a lot of time talking with my family, and I plan to stay for another year,” Simon declared. “I’m rather pleased with the choice I made. Although I spoke with my family a lot, I’m satisfied with the outcome.
Simon should be able to start alongside whoever returns in the linebacking corps now that he’s back in the mix. Presumably, C.J. Hicks could win that job.
However, Simon was the lone player in Tuesday’s numerous interviews to declare his plans after the Cotton Bowl, which was excellent news for the Buckeyes.
Simon remarked, “A lot goes into it.” “First, to accomplish the objectives you set for yourself. We haven’t done a great job finishing them the last couple of years, and there are a ton of team goals that I still wanted to accomplish. I hope to be able to go out and achieve those objectives, as well as defeat The Team Up North and win another Big Ten championship. It seems like there is a lot of unresolved business.
