Against the Seahawks, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (illness) is demoted to questionable.
The status of quarterback Jalen Hurts for Monday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks has been reduced by the Philadelphia Eagles.
Due to an illness, Hurts is now doubtful for Monday’s game after missing Saturday’s practice, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport’s report on Sunday.
Hurts’ participation status for the practices on Thursday and Friday was not disclosed by the team. According to Rapoport, in an effort to prevent injuries from spreading to teammates or coaches, Hurts will travel apart from the team.
Hurts’ designation and his travel schedule for Monday’s game in Seattle were eventually made public by the team.
Philadelphia (10-3) is the fifth seed in the NFC playoff standings going into Monday night’s game after losses to the 49ers and Cowboys.
This season, the quarterback for the Eagles has started all 13 of the team’s games. Hurts has completed his throws for 3,192 yards with 19 touchdowns, 10 interceptions, and 12 touchdowns on the ground. Hurts did not play in a regular season game since Week 17, 2022.
Hurts’ injury on Monday night means that Nick Sirianni’s team will probably start experienced quarterback Marcus Mariota over rookie Tanner McKee. This offseason, Mariota was signed by the Eagles.
Mariota is 34–40 as a starter in the NFL over his nine-year career. Currently, he is the starting quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons in 2022. He started 13 games with a 5-8 record, passing for 2,219 yards, 15 touchdowns, and nine interceptions while completing 61.3% of his throws. When Mariota was in Atlanta, he was benched in favor of Desmond Ridder.
