According to jail records, Patrick Mahomes Sr., the father of Patrick Mahomes, was detained late last week in Tyler, Texas, on suspicion of DWI for at least the third time.
According to jail records, Patrick Mahomes Sr., the father of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, was arrested late last week in Tyler, Texas, on a DWI charge for at least the third time. This year, Mahomes Sr. went to his son’s postseason games. Eight days before his kid is scheduled to play in Super Bowl 2024 in Las Vegas on February 11 versus the 49ers, he was arrested.
After serving 40 days in jail for his first DWI offense in 2018, Mahomes Sr., an 11-year MLB player, was charged with his second offense in 2018.

In 2006, Mahomes Sr. and his former spouse, Randi, separated. Jackson Mahomes, their other son, was taken into custody in May of last year on suspicion of aggravated sexual battery following an alleged attack on a restaurant owner. Last month, the charges against him were withdrawn.
Recently, Mahomes Sr. called the younger Mahomes’ athletic prowess “special.” “I realized that was strange, what he was accomplishing at such a young age. According to CNN Sports, Mahomes Sr. stated, “I knew that was exceptional and I knew that if he continued to move in that fashion and to continue training every day that he’d have a chance to be a professional athlete.”
