SEAHAWKS INACTIVES DEC 18The Seattle Seahawks have disclosed who will not play against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday.
Many were taken aback to learn that Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith (groin) is playing after much uncertainty about his status. All three of Seattle’s quarterbacks are dressed, though, suggesting he’s not fully fit.
WAGNER FOR ART ROONEY AWARD DEC. 14Bobby Wagner, a linebacker with the Seattle Seahawks, was named one of the eight candidates for the 2023 Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award on Thursday.
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, linebacker C.J. Mosley of the New York Jets, safety Budda Baker of the Arizona Cardinals, defensive end Max Crosby of the Las Vegas Raiders, offensive guard Kevin Zeitler of the Baltimore Ravens, fullback Kyle Juszczyk of the San Francisco 49ers, and linebacker Khalil Mack of the Los Angeles Chargers are the other seven finalists.
SPOON INJURED DEC 10Due to a lower back injury, rookie cornerback Devon Witherspoon of the Seattle Seahawks is doubtful to play against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, the organization stated.
Witherspoon took a big hit on 49ers tight end George Kittle and had to be assessed for a concussion in the blue medical tent on the sidelines. But it seems that during the play, he suffered a back injury.
In the second quarter, the Seahawks are ahead 10–7.
DEC 9 SEAHAWKS CHART CHANGESBefore Sunday’s game at Levi’s Stadium against the San Francisco 49ers, the Seattle Seahawks are securing some insurance at quarterback.
Due to a groin ailment, the Seahawks are considering signing veteran quarterback Sean Mannion from the practice squad to back up Drew Lock in the event that Smith is sidelined.
Coach Pete Carroll of the Seahawks responded, “We’ll see,” when asked if Smith would play on Friday. “We rested him today.”
As part of the moves on Saturday, linebacker Patrick O’Connell was also elevated by the Seahawks.
30 November BROOKS JORDYN WAS INJUREDJordyn Brooks, a linebacker for the Seattle Seahawks, hurt his ankle during the first half of their game against the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday night. It seems unlikely that he will play again.
Brooks’ status was reduced after he was declared questionable to return after the game.
Dak Prescott, the quarterback for the Cowboys, was sacked early by Brooks.
In the third quarter, the Cowboys are trailing the Seahawks 28–20.
Trade of October 30 Seahawks for Leonard WilliamsWith little over 24 hours remaining until the NFL trade deadline, the Seattle Seahawks are making a major deal.
Pro Bowl defensive tackle Leonard Williams is being traded by the New York Giants to the Seahawks in exchange for a 2024 second-round pick and a 2025 fifth-round pick, according to NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero.
As the team aims to contend for a postseason berth in the second half of the season, the deal strengthens Seattle’s front seven.
21 OCT ON BUDDA AND KYLERQB Kyler Murray of the Arizona Cardinals said this week that he is “back” following a season-long knee ailment that kept him out of action for the first six weeks. However, he is not fully “back,” and the Cardinals will not start him against the Seahawks in Week 7.
Murray was officially declared “OUT” by the Cardinals on Friday for Sunday’s matchup with their NFC West opponents. This clearly lowers the Cards’ chances of winning because the 1-5 team has only gone 1-9 without him.
One could argue that Arizona should keep Kyler in mothballs since they have a chance to choose the first overall choice in the NFL Draft the following year.
Star safety Budda Baker (hamstring) may be able to play on Sunday, though. It says “questionable” about him.
OCT 18: ARE THE CARDINALS BACK TO FULL IMPACT?According to an Ari Meirov article, the NFC West division foe Seattle Seahawks might play the Arizona Cardinals at full strength on Sunday after Kyler Murray, the quarterback, and Budda Baker, the safety, were both declared for return from injured reserve on Wednesday.
Murray might be returning to Seattle after playing the majority of the season at center for the Cleveland Browns, whom they obtained via trade before the regular season began.
The former first-round draft pick, Murray, suffered a ruptured ACL in last season’s Week 12 game against the New England Patriots, thus he began the season on injured reserve.
With a hamstring ailment that has kept him out of the last five games, Baker might also make a comeback on Sunday.
October 16: A Seahawks rookie shuts down a star receiver for the Bengals.Even though the Seahawks lost in Cincinnati on Sunday, DK Metcalf’s prediction came true. The player from Seattle expressed his belief last week that “Spoon will get the best of him,” and that is precisely what transpired.
After catching 15 passes for 192 yards and three touchdowns the previous game, Seattle’s defense, especially rookie cornerback Devon Witherspoon, kept Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase in check.
In Cincy’s 17–13 victory, Chase was shadowed by Witherspoon and only managed six receptions for 80 yards on 13 targets. He also failed to make a reception on two targets.
Like the restless novice that he was, he also seemed to inform Chase about it.
SEAHAWKS OCT. 11 INJURY REPORTAhead of their Sunday game at Paycor Stadium against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Seattle Seahawks have released their injury report on Wednesday.
Although Seahawks receiver DK Metcalf was classified as a DNP on Wednesday with a rib injury, he had a full bye week to heal and participated in the team’s victory over the New York Giants in Week 4. It appears that the Seahawks are simply being cautious with him, as reporter Corbin Smith has reported.
