Breaking News: Just Now, Detroit Lions Signed Raiders Star Player As Their New cornerback…….

The Raiders’ CB Amik Robertson and the Detroit Lions have agreed to a two-year contract extension.

On the second day of the free agent negotiation process on Tuesday, cornerback Amik Robertson of the Las Vegas Raiders and the Lions reached a two-year agreement. The agreement, which has a maximum value of $10.75 million and includes a $3.3 million signing bonus, was first made public by NFL Network.

Since the negotiation window began, the Lions have acquired two cornerbacks of starting caliber in Robertson and Robertson.

They sent cornerback Carlton Davis and sixth-round selections in 2024 and 2025 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday in exchange for a third-round pick.

While Robertson can play both inside and outside the football, Davis is expected to be the Lions’ starting cornerback this autumn.

Robertson, who is undersized at 5 feet 9 inches, has started 19 games in the last two seasons and participated in all 17. Early in the previous season, he took Nate Hobbs’ place as the Raiders’ slot cornerback. However, once Jakorian Bennett was hurt, he went outside.

The Lions are in the process of revamping their cornerback room after finishing the previous season ranked 27th against the pass (247.4 ypg) and 30th in yards allowed per pass play (7.15).

When the new league year begins at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Cam Sutton will be the only cornerback back from 2023 who saw significant playing time. Jerry Jacobs, Will Harris, Kindle Vildor, and Khalil Dorsey, on the other hand, will be free agents.

Robertson at least offers depth at cornerback and on special teams, and he may even challenge for a starting position in the secondary. Before free agency opened, the Lions re-signed Emmanuel Moseley, who played two defensive snaps the previous season before injuring his ACL. Brian Branch, the starter slot corner with positional versatility at safety, is back with the team.

The Lions have added a second free agent this week in Robertson, a 25-year-old. They signed defensive end Marcus Davenport, who began his career with the New Orleans Saints and was coached by Lions coach Dan Campbell and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, to a one-year contract on Monday. Davenport played for the Minnesota Vikings the previous season.

In addition, the Lions signed a new three-year contract with right guard Graham Glasgow and lost free agent Jonah Jackson to the Los Angeles Rams.
